As a computational designer in MAK studio, I was in charge of design and fabrication for this custom bench and desk.
This project was part of a competition held by Design Hive ( link ) with the topic of “Future Offices”. The design is a collaboration between MAK studio and Inventure design
I developed the final design based on an initial sketch from Inventure design consisting of some base curves.
We chose waffle structure as a result of the low budget but what would make a waffle structure a step ahead of its time? The method I used was to add rotation to panels which would lead to diverse sections and avoid repetition along the bench.
I was able to generate the whole process of design and fabrication and cutting files from a parametric script for any given base geometry.
